Leg Shaping

The leg shaping table is good for the whole leg area. It is especially good for the upper part of the thighs where most people have problems. The two separate exercises you do on this table were designed to work on specific problem areas. The first exercise concentrates on firming and toning the inner thighs and the lower abdominal muscles.

The second exercise will firm and tone the outer thigh, commonly called "saddle bags." At first, you may feel it is impossible to keep up with each repetition the table makes; but as with any exercise, you must have patience, take your time, and do only what you can, progressing a little with each visit.

To develop endurance on this table, you can start by pulling out or pulling in on the foot rest with your heel a little ahead of the table. Depending on which of the exercises you are doing, you do this with each repetition until you are tired, then relax. (You never push back toward the wall with the bottom of your foot.) Although you are relaxing, you still will continue to benefit. On the leg table, even when you rest, it will automatically relax and contract the thigh muscles with each repetition.

  1. The legs are moved inward using the inner thigh muscles.
  2. The legs are moved toward the body, using all the thigh muscles.
  3. The legs are moved out and away, using the back and outer thigh muscles.

Therefore, the leg table is still beneficial to people who cannot do the additional isometric movement.

Your knees and feet are positioned according to the area of the legs you are concentrating on. Since no pushing movement is involved, as with bicycle riding or weight resistance equipment, the muscles will be toned without building up large muscles in the legs. This is extremely important to women as they generally are seeking a slender feminine appearance and do not want to be firmed up at the expense of building large muscles.

In addition to the firming and toning benefits, the leg table exercises are also good for keeping bones in shape, leading to denser and stronger bones. The leg table is also helpful in keeping blood stimulated and flowing freely throughout the leg area. This is particularly important with people who have poor circulation and varicose veins in the legs. You'll find that climbing stairs and walking will be so much easier when your legs are in shape.
